The clinician in your computer

The clinician in your computer ...

Dundee Voluntary Action has produced a short video showing a videoconsulting system, currently in use at NHS Tayside’s dermatology department. It uses Google Chrome, a computer with a webcam or a smartphone and saves patients and staff time, effort and expense.

DVA's Jimmy Black said, "This system is simple to use, free to clinicians and is backed by the Scottish Centre for Telehealth and Telecare. Normally you'd just have a one to one videoconsultation, but it's possible to have more people in a call. We're keen to get doctors and other clinicians thinking about how they can use this practical tool. For example, you could include a British Sign Language translator, or do consultations which don't require a physical examination."
